Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know about BienSorti — from how it works to permissions, privacy, and reminders.

The app at a glance

What is BienSorti?

BienSorti is a mobile app that detects the end of a car trip and gently reminds you to check that everyone has left the vehicle. It's an extra layer of safety — not a substitute for your own vigilance as a parent.

For the full walkthrough, see How it works.

How much does BienSorti cost?

€3.99 as a one-time purchase. No subscription, no hidden in-app purchases — pay once and the app is yours, forever.

Which phones does BienSorti work on?

BienSorti is built for iOS and Android. Exact permissions vary slightly by platform, but the principle is the same: background trip detection and a reminder when you stop.

Does BienSorti replace my vigilance as a parent?

No. BienSorti is an extra layer of safety — one last reminder before you close the door. It never replaces a parent's attention or a glance at the back seat.

Setup

How do I set up BienSorti?

On first launch, onboarding walks you through a few steps:

  1. Add at least one child (first name, optional date of birth).
  2. Grant permissions: Always location, physical activity or motion, notifications.
  3. Keep monitoring active — BienSorti watches in the background during your trips.

Full setup takes about 2 minutes.

Why does the app ask for Always location?

BienSorti needs to detect the end of a trip even when the app is in the background or closed. Location is used only to detect vehicle speed and stops — not to track your daily movements or record a trip map. All data stays on your phone.

Why does the app ask for physical activity or motion?

Alongside GPS, BienSorti detects when you're likely in a car or stopped (Core Motion on iOS, activity recognition on Android). This improves trip detection and limits battery drain. No motion data is sent to a BienSorti server.

Why a persistent notification on Android?

During monitoring, Android requires a foreground service to use location in the background. A discreet notification shows that BienSorti is watching over your trip. It disappears when monitoring is no longer active.

How it works

How does BienSorti detect a trip?

The app combines GPS (speed, stops) and motion detection to spot when you're driving and when you've stopped. Monitoring runs in the background, even if the app is closed.

How do reminders work?

When BienSorti detects that a trip has stopped, a notification asks you to confirm everyone has left the vehicle. If you don't respond, progressive reminders follow: a stronger nudge, then a sound alarm, then a critical alert. You can adjust the initial delay and ringtone in the app settings.

What is a driving profile?

In Settings, choose your driving environment: Countryside, Mixed (default), or Big city. Each profile adjusts stop sensitivity — helpful if you often drive in traffic jams.

BienSorti only ends a trip when the vehicle is truly still: low speed, long enough, and little movement. In urban areas, the Big city profile handles congestion better.

More detail on the How it works page.

The alarm goes off in a traffic jam — what should I do?

This often happens in cities: GPS sometimes reads 0 mph while you're still inching forward. Switch to the Big city profile in Settings → Driving environment.

If you mostly drive in the countryside and detection feels too slow, choose Countryside. The Mixed profile suits most everyday use.

If you're already waiting for confirmation but start moving again in a jam, driving at low speed usually cancels the escalation — no need to speed up.

I'm not getting a notification when I stop

Check the following:

  • At least one child is configured in the app.
  • Notifications are allowed for BienSorti.
  • Always location is granted.
  • On Android: physical activity is allowed and the monitoring notification is active during a trip.
  • On iOS: a background location indicator may appear during a trip — that's normal.

The app stays quiet until a trip is detected. BienSorti only alerts you at the end of a vehicle trip. For more help, see the Help page.

Does the app use a lot of battery?

No, not in normal use. BienSorti uses 3 adaptive GPS modes: at rest, a single fix every ~90 s (no continuous GPS). Intensive GPS is only active during a confirmed trip or a short verification burst. Motion sensors and geofences wake the app without keeping GPS running constantly.

Technical details are on the How it works page.

Does the app work without an internet connection?

Yes. BienSorti works entirely locally, with no account or cloud server. No internet connection is needed for trip detection or reminders.

Privacy

Is my data shared?

No. Your profiles, trips, and settings stay on your phone. BienSorti has no cloud backend: no mandatory account, no server storing your data, no selling to third parties.

See the privacy policy for details.

Does BienSorti track my daily movements?

No. BienSorti is not a permanent tracker. The app detects vehicle trips to trigger a reminder when you stop — not to map your life or share your location with anyone.
